About the role

Role: Social Strategist

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Lead platform and content strategy: Own the planning process — researching audience and platform trends, shaping briefs, and aligning creative ideas to client and campaign objectives across India’s multi-lingual platform landscape.
  • Guide execution hands-on: Stay close to the work as it’s made, working with creatives, creators and producers to bring strategy to life and keep everything on-strategy and on-brief.
  • Liaise with the client on your workstreams: Primary client liaison sits with the business lead and social directors/PMs, but you’ll take the client conversation directly on some workstreams — presenting thinking and building trust.
  • Analyse and optimise performance: Track content performance across platforms and campaigns and pull out actionable insights to inform future creative and content planning.
  • Support culture-first creative: Identify opportunities for culturally relevant, social-first work — and help package standout work into case studies for internal sharing, awards and credentials.
  • Share platform and cultural insight: Be the voice of what’s happening now, regularly sharing cultural signals, platform shifts, and emerging formats with the wider regional team.
  • Help deliver on time and on brief: Manage your own time across workstreams — briefing, timelines and prioritisation — working with creatives, producers and client leads to keep everything moving smoothly.
  • Work with AI: Use WPP Open (our proprietary AI platform) to drive efficiencies and experiment with scale and personalisation.
  • Work as a team: Collaborate across India, Australia, and regional colleagues, contributing to the wider always-on and influence programme.

Skills & Competencies

  • 5-10 years in social and brand strategy, with India market depth.
  • Fluency across India’s multi-lingual platform landscape.
  • Proven experience on always-on social and influence programmes.
  • Experienced and enthusiastic working as part of a regional team.
  • A strategic view on social — able to turn insight into ideas and direction, not just execute against someone else’s brief.
  • The self-direction to manage your own time and delivery, and the appetite to get stuck in and guide execution hands-on.
  • Confidence liaising with the client directly on the workstreams you carry.
  • Analytical strength with experience interpreting social data into insight that shapes creative and content.
  • A proactive, organised, start-up mindset and a willingness to roll up your sleeves across varied tasks.
  • Meta certifications (or willingness to complete them).
